National videogame day occurs on September 12th for 2023. You might be celebrating by playing some of your favorite game titles. For those of us who cosplay, there’s a way you can celebrate too. Dressing up as characters from different games is a great way to enjoy the holiday in costume. You might be wondering who to be though. Thankfully, I have you covered. I have put together this list of videogame cosplay ideas for National videogame day to try.
Videogame Cosplay Ideas
- The Witcher – The Witcher games and even the Netflix show has a wide variety of characters to fit everyone. Whether you’re a lady trying your hand at characters like Triss, Yennefer and Ciri, or you want to go for the main man Geralt, there’s plenty to choose from with incredible fantasy garb to make.
- Legend of Zelda – The release of Tears of the Kingdom is still fresh. Thus Zelda and Link are great characters to cosplay. There’s also so many games in this franchise and thus plenty of outfits to choose from.
- Final Fantasy – Another franchise with many games in it, Final Fantasy leaves you with plenty of characters to choose from like Tifa and more.
- Resident Evil – I myself cosplay from Resident Evil 8 and there’s plenty of other games to choose from in this franchise. You can delve into their later work as Lady D or Heisenberg, or go back to classic characters like Leon and Jill.
- Overwatch – Between all the heroes and all of their cosmetics, you can never run out of options cosplaying from Overwatch. You can start simple with characters like Tracer and then upgrade to full armor builds of Reinhardt and more.
- Dead Space – Speaking of full armor builds, you can never go wrong with a classic like Isaac. This cosplay is also perfect to test out your skills with LEDs.
- Mario – The Mario movie has even me wanting to cosplay more Mario characters. From all the bad guys to create custom costumes for, the plumbers for a simple closet cosplay or if you love ballgowns you can try any of the many princesses.
- Halo – I feel like I can’t go to a convention and not see someone cosplayed as Master Chief. He’s such an iconic cosplay you often see at events so that’s why he is definitely on this list or any other Halo cosplay you set your mind too.
- Skyrim – Skyrim is an all time classic with a variety of armors and props to create. Whether you want the sets like dwarven or iron, or the armor from a group like the Thieves Guild and the Dark Brotherhood, there is so many options to choose from. You can also pick from the vast variety of NPCs too like Serana or the Jarls.
- Fallout – Similar to Skyrim, you have a wide variety of groups and armor sets to pick from and plenty of NPCs like your companions as well. There’s also so many Fallout games to choose from to help give you even more variety.
- Silent Hill – The last videogame on our list of videogame cosplay ideas is Silent Hill. You have amazing main characters like Heather Mason and plenty of bad guys like Pyramid Head or the nurses. If you have a love for all things horror then this will definitely be the videogame cosplay for you.
