Want better photos for prints and social media? Then you might be asking, “how can I improve my cosplay pictures?” There’s a few little things you can do to help amplify the quality of your photos and hopefully attract likes on social media or purchases for your print shop.
- Posing – Trying planning your poses ahead of time so you know what you want to achieve. You can research your character to find poses that fit them and help you truly embody them. Make sure to also take time to practice the poses in the mirror so you’re confident it will look how you want it.
- Lighting – Either using additional lights, effect lighting or capitalizing off natural lighting and golden hour can make your photos look better. Take time to figure out what achieves the desired outcome and plan accordingly.
- Upgrade equipment – Use quality cameras that can help you gain quality results.
- Make back drops – Instead of a plain wall for your background, consider getting or making back drops. Things like backgrounds and set pieces can help improve your photos and gives you more to engage with as you pose. This is great for when taking pictures at home.
- Find locations to shoot – Try getting out of the house for your photoshoots. Research locations that fit your character to have realistic and visually appealing backdrops. There’s also platforms like Peerspace to rent venues for photoshoots by the hour.
- Edit photos – Either hire an editor/photographer or learn how to edit your own photos. There’s tons of options for editing such as Adobe, Canva and more.
