Halloween is the time of year for cosplayers. We can crack out our costumes and no one really bats an eye at it because it’s the time of year everyone dresses up. If you’re like me, you may have a closet full of costumes to choose from and you’re just not sure what to cosplay as this year. Or maybe you want to make something completely new. That’s why I’m here with a list of cosplay ideas for Halloween to try out.

  • Classic horror movie villain: From Freddy Krueger to Leatherface, and from Jason Voorhees to Michael Myers. These classic horror villains are timeless and easy to customize for a unique cosplay or put together as a simple closet costume. You’re sure to give everyone a scare with these characters.
  • Beetlejuice: Whether you liked the movie or the musical better, Beetlejuice is always a great choice for Halloween cosplays. You can be the ghost with the most himself or try characters like Lydia. This is also a popular character for genderbend cosplays too.
  • Killer dolls: Horror movies with spooky dolls are more and more common now after the success of cult classic, Chucky. Now there’s options like Annabelle and Megan to try to really bring the dolls to life.
  • Stephen King characters: This author is the king of horror and thus is just perfect for the season. Everything from The Shining, It and Pet Semetary are on the table for cosplay ideas for Halloween.
  • Zombies: Whether you liked classic George Romero zombie flicks or shows like The Walking Dead, zombies make for a perfect Halloween costume. If you’re a fan of SFX makeup then this definitely is the choice for you.
  • Tim Burton characters: Tim Burton makes all things spooky feel fun. From Nightmare Before Christmas, to Corpse Bride, there’s plenty of Halloween characters to bring to life as a cosplay.
  • The Addams family: They’re creepy and they’re spooky, and perfect to find cosplay ideas for Halloween. Whether you want to slay like Morticia and Wednesday, be absolutely dashing like Gomez, or be just a bit creepy like cousin Fester or Lurch, they have a costume for you in this family.
  • Witches: Hex Girls, Sabrina and Hocus Pocus; what do they all have in common? Witches. Halloween is the season for witches to come out and play and you can to from a variety of franchises or create an OC.
