Why I Chose Ellie Sattler
I always like to choose female characters that prove to keep up with the boys. Feminism is something I stand for and Ellie’s delivery of the line “Dinosaur eats man, women inherit the earth” had me immediately in love. I also knew this would be a budget-friendly closet cosplay and I love finding those opportunities so I can share them with my audience. Cosplay can be affordable and Ellie was a great way for me to show you that.
Final Thoughts
Cosplay doesn’t require you craft over the top armors or spend 1000s of dollars. Sometimes it’s simple characters with a few bucks dropped at your local thrift store. It just requires you take extra time and thought before you start spending. I very specifically planned to have most of Ellie Sattler be a thrifted piece to keep it on a very tight budget. I love how she turned out and hopefully she inspires other cosplayers working on tight budgets to work smarter not harder.

How I Made Ellie Sattler
I didn’t make much for Ellie. The biggest thing was styling the wig which required more hairspray than I ever want to admit. I mostly thrifted this costume. Her shorts, tank top and pink top were all Goodwill finds that worked perfect. I did of course opt to buy new socks and shoes for the costume though.
