I had been working on this cosplay since 2022 and was so pleased to finally finish and debut it at Fan Expo Chicago. Now that it’s all done, debuted and my videos are published, I’m excited to tell you about how to make a Daisy Mae cosplay so you too can up your turnip game. Whether you got on the Animal Crossing bandwagon at New Horizons like me, or a long time fan, creating an Animal Crossing cosplay is easy and fun to do.
How to Make a Daisy Mae Cosplay Dress
Daisy Mae wears a purple wrap dress with her blue apron over it in terms of her clothing. These were really easy to sew together. The apron really just required cutting a rectangle shape out of some blue silk and using white fabric paint to add the designs. As for the dress, I took a wrap dress sewing pattern and some purple silk and worked my magic. The video below gives all the steps for the costume.
How to Make Daisy Mae’s Wig and Basket
Daisy has a lot of style for her hair and head basket. I styled my orange wig with a garment steamer and added cute little felt ears that I made myself. I actually have a free Daisy Mae ear pattern available for download as well. After the wig I had to do the basket. This was incredibly affordable since I just needed some red silky cord and then thrifted the round basket. From there I crafted turnips out of EVA foam and foam clay to keep that basket full.
