Gloves are a common clothing piece in many cosplays. They’re also pretty easy to craft and create a sewing pattern for. For those of you who maybe haven’t made them before, I’m here to show you how to make cosplay gloves. It requires minimal supplies and won’t take us long to do. You can follow along this blog or the video below.

Materials

  • For the sewing pattern: Sharpie, construction paper and scissors
  • For making the cosplay gloves: Sewing machine or needle, thread, fabric, pins and fabric scissors

How to Make Gloves Sewing Pattern

Before we make our costume, we need a template to make sure we do it right. Sewing patterns have always been intimidating for me to make except for gloves. Making sewing patterns for gloves can actually be really easy. You’ll want to place your hand on a piece of construction paper and trace it with a marker or pen.

After you finish tracing you can go ahead and cut the hand shape out of the paper. Then you have your sewing pattern.

Making Cosplay Gloves

Now that our sewing pattern is done, we can move on to the steps for how to make cosplay gloves. This is where the steps do get a little more difficult than the pattern, however they’re still pretty easy to make.

  1. Trace the pattern onto your fabric. You’ll want to cut two pieces with the hand facing one way and then flip it over and get two facing the other way. Be sure to trace excess so there’s room for the seams and your hand will fit comfortable.
  2. Pin the two fabric pieces together to create two gloves. Be sure the fabric you want to be the outside of the glove is inside when pinning so the gloves are inside out.
  3. Sew your gloves either with a sewing machine or by hand along the edges. You can cut away the excess once you’re done.
  4. Turn the gloves but the right way and you’re finished.
