I know since approaching my late 20s after having starting cosplay at 17, I often fine myself feeling out of place in conventions. The floor is often crawling with people my age and older, but also a lot of people who are much younger. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it often makes me self conscious and curious, is there an age limit for cosplay?
There really isn’t any sort of limit though. No one is going around making rules for who can and can’t cosplay. People who do are gatekeepers and honestly, we don’t want that attitude in the cosplay community anyways. Cosplayers consists of all age from young to old. So next time you’re comparing yourself to the other cosplayers on the convention floor, remember that there isn’t an age limit for cosplay.
Characters come in all colors, genders and ages. With that being said, so does cosplayers. If characters can come from every age group, than there really is no reason cosplayers’ can’t either. We come from all walks of life and there truly is no limit.
Is 50 Too Old to Cosplay?
Nope! Like I said, cosplay has no age limit at all. Whether you’re 50+ or younger you are just as welcome to cosplay.
