Why I Chose the Magpie
I like to have some easy to wear, silly cosplays and this felt like the perfect opportunity. Between using lightly modified thrifted clothing and a quick 3D printed bird, it was pretty simply to make. It was also easy to wear. It was super fun and it was hilarious when people realized who I was.
How I Made the Magpie
The magpie was 3D printed and glued onto a headband. I did also 3D print another Magpie with swappable heads thanks to HDCFabrication (thanks Tim!). Most of the costume was purchased like the pants, dress shoes and yellow sunglasses. However the shirt was a thrifted grey dress shirt that I gradient dyed the sleeves with black and added black patches onto the shoulders.
Final Thoughts
It was really cool when this costume got recognized out at cons like NWICC. It was fun and silly and even made it to my work for Halloween. As much as I love doing big armor build cosplays, it was nice to have something a little more simple and easy to wear but still brought smiles and laughs.
