I was wondering when this project would come. The first one I completely crashed and burned. I have done what, maybe 2 completed projects and 2 I am also currently in the middle of that are all pretty much successful (knock on wood for the two in progress). But I have a project that just did not work out. So this is my first failed project.
I started making the template and I could kind of tell from there it wasn’t going to go well. The template just wasn’t looking great as a free handed template as well as my reference image was kind of terrible. From there tracing the template to foam well, also was bad. I also made the mistake of trying to use caulk to adhere some of my pieces together instead of contact cement or a hot glue gun. That was not the worst part of it though it really was the template.
In the end though, I was pretty ok with it. I put my first failed project in the trash like it was no big deal. Then I sat down and went back to one of my other projects, completely forgetting the failure. I did not take it as defeat and I just kept going. I wanted to share this because I know lots of people are just getting started with this like me. Some people I know will have a failure and walk away from it all. But it is just as I made it out to be in the moment, not a big deal. I’ll just try again later when I better figure out the template.
The project in question though is a bracelet for my Princess Leia cosplay. Specifically the slave Leia version of her. The armband I am making for it is coming along BEAUITFULLY though. I got to do a texture on it to make it look weathered and old as well and I am very excited to start with the paint to make it look like weathered metal. Finishing this cosplay is going to be a blast for sure!
