- Mai & Zuko or Ang & Katara – For Avatar the Last Airbender fans, you have a few couples to choose from. Be broody as Zuko and Mai, or be silly with Ang and Katara.
- Ashitaka & Princess Mononoke – Keeping up the the anime trend, we have Ashitaka and Princess Mononoke from Studio Ghibli. This is a great crafting project with a focus on sewing and some light foam or 3D print work.
- Daemon & Rhaenyra Targaryen – There’s so many couples to choose from between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones. My personal favorite has always been Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen. - Gambit & Rogue – From the comics to Marvel Rivals, this iconic super hero couple can make for a fun cosplay. Either buy the costumes or make body suits and armor to bring Gambit and Rogue to life.
- Louis & Lestat – They’re our favorite vampire couple, Louis and Lestat. Dress up in gorgeous period pieces from the movie or create their stylish outfits from the show via sewing or thrifting.

Easy Couple Cosplay Ideas
Need a costume you can easily purchase or assemble as a closet cosplay? Explore these easy couple cosplay ideas.
- Fred & Daphne or Velma & Daphne – You can easily thrift a closet cosplay of the Mystery Inc. characters. You also have flexibility of choosing to go as Fred and Daphne or Velma and Daphne.
- Rose & 10 or River & 11 – A lot of the Doctor Who characters can easily be cosplayed through thrifting a closet cosplay. There’s quite a few couples to choose from but the most iconic are Rose with 10 and River with 11.
- Alan Grant & Ellie Sattler – This is a perfect, thriftable costume that’s easy to put together. I happen to have made Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler for myself entirely from thrifted pieces with the exception of the wig.
- Moxxie & Millie – Another entry from the Helluva Boss universe but this one is made simple. Thrift for the clothes and purchase the horns for a quick and easy couple cosplay.
- Jessica & Roger Rabbit – This is another possible option that you can easily buy the dress for online or work with clothing already in your closet. Roger and Jessica Rabbit is perfect for the smokin lady and simp duo.
Do Couples Have to Match Costumes
You never have to match your costumes as a couple. Partners who try to enforce it as a requirement may mean there’s a more pressing issue present. It’s key to communicate effectively when discussing dressing up together so everyone feels comfortable and respected.
While you don’t have to match cosplays with your significant other, there is a lot of reasons you may want to coordinate.
- For fun – Doing a couple cosplay is typically fun. So if you want to have a good time dressed up together or making the costumes side by side, get to it.
- Togetherness – Whether you need a project for quality time or just general togetherness, a couples cosplay can be the perfect thing. Spending time dressed up and making something can help bring couples closer together.
Reasons to Skip a Couples Cosplay
While there’s great reasons to do a couples costume, there is valid reasons not to that partners should be respectful of.
- Individual expressions – Cosplay is an art form people can use to express themselves. While it’s fun to do it together as a couple, you may need some time to do it solo. Be sure to communicate to your partner your needs for individual expression so you guys can make time for your own costumes.
- Comfort – If the costume, character or the entire concept of a couple cosplay makes you uncomfortable, you should probably skip it. Your comfort should always be your first priority and make sure to vocalize your feelings of discomfort to your partner.
