Plasti Dip can be a great primer for cosplays made from EVA foam or Worbla. However if you aren’t getting desired results, it’ll leave you asking how to fix Plasti Dip mistakes. Try these fixes for the different issues you might face:

  • Drips or uneven texture – This issue has a few different fixes:
    • Wet sanding raised spots or drops.
    • Apply Xylene or paint thinner to textured area to liquify and smooth it out with a gloved finger.
    • Make sure not to spray too close or heavy to avoid drips, runs and sags.
  • Peeling or chipping – This issue has multiple fixes:
    • Touch up the spot by applying a few layers over until it matches the surrounding area
    • Peel the entire section and reapply
  • Bubbles or rough textures – This also has multiple fixes:
    • Use a high density foam roller and Xylene to smooth out the texture.
    • Apply Xylene or paint thinner to textured area to liquify and smooth it out with a gloved finger.
    • Make sure not to spray too close or heavy to avoid bubbles or other textures.
  • Staying wet too long or not curing properly – High humidity will impact how Plasti Dip dries. Make sure the space you’re working in isn’t humid.
  • Not adhering – Be sure to clean the surface properly so the Plasti Dip will adhere to your foam or Worbla.

Why Does My Plasti Dip Look Rough

There is a few common causes for rough textures in your Plasti Dip:

  • Spraying too far away – Particles can dry before hitting the surface and leave a gritty texture. Make sure to spray Plasti Dip 4-5 inches away.
  • Environmental impacts – Wind, temperatures and humidity will impact Plasti Dip while it cures. Spray in ideal conditions such as a well ventilated indoor space with temperature and humidity control.

To get a smooth finish with your Plasti Dip, use the following tips:

  • Keep the can warm for better flow.
  • Spray 4-5 inches away from the surface.
  • Spray in thick coats.
  • Add multiple coats while waiting long enough between each one before spraying another.
