This was an exciting first for me. I got to spend my first time with Worbla to remake my Slave Princess Leia breastplate. I had originally made my Leia breastplate from EVA foam but had not felt completely satisfied with the end result. So I thought maybe I could do it better. However I had not yet worked with thermoplastics and thus I also got to cross off working with Worbla for the first time. It was a lot of fun and I wanted to share about the experience.
Worbla or thermoplastics as a whole are surprisingly easy to work with as I learned during my first time with worbla. It shapes so incredibly well and is easy to cut and put together. It also primed and painted easily well too and was a breeze to add textured trimmings to from foam since contact cement worked just fine.
My only concern is how fragile it can be and thus you have to work more cautiously while shaping it and heating it. There is also the fact that Worbla is much more expensive than EVA foam. So if you are someone looking to work with Worbla for the first time these are the two things I would keep in mind. Otherwise it was so easy to craft with and I am very excited to have a new breastplate for my slave leia cosplay.
