Being a cosplayer can make preparing for a con a little bit more difficult. I have a lot to do as I’m getting ready for C2E2 especially since I have a planned cosplay debut while I’m there. You might be wondering, how do you prepare for a cosplay convention? I decided I wanted to review my general tips for getting ready as well as my more specific checklist I have with getting ready for C2E2.
How Do You Prepare for a Cosplay Convention?
There’s a few different things to do to prepare for a convention if you plan to cosplay at it. Here’s some things to do to prepare maybe a month or 2 before:
- Finish your cosplay in time for a costest so you can make sure it fits and doesn’t need any modifications before you go.
- If you’re traveling make sure to book flights or cars and a hotel.
- Review the area for nearby areas like restaurants and parking so you’re prepared and know where to go.
- Plan out your time if you want to participate at panels or contests so you don’t miss anything you want to attend.
- Relax and maybe get a little work out in. I’m personally not very in shape during the year so I like to get in the habit of going for walks a month or two before so I can handle walking around a con. Don’t over exert though so you’re relaxed for the con too.
What Should I Bring to a Cosplay Convention?
Be prepared for the convention! These are good things to bring:
- WATER! You need to stay hydrated so make sure you have water.
- Phone and wallet, yeah the basic essentials. Don’t forget these since you definitely would need them anywhere as it is.
- Maybe a camera in case you want to take pictures with cosplayers with consent of course.
- Convention pass, again obviously but I have forgotten it and I always put it on my checklist.
- Mask and sanitizer depending on requirements and your comfort level. I always keep sanitizers since you just never know in general with some people…
- Portable charger so your phone doesn’t lose a charge.
- Cosplay repair supplies whether it’s safety pins or a mini glue gun be prepared for any battle damage to your cosplay.
- Pit pads!! I live by the pit pads since I sweat easily and it’ll help keep your cosplay from getting stinky and gross.
How I’m Getting Ready for C2E2 With a Cosplay Debut
As I mentioned I am debuting a new cosplay at C2E2. The new cosplay I am debuting is a surprise until C2E2 day 1 unless you subscribe to my OnlyFans, then you can see it the night before. So these are all the things I need to do while getting ready for C2E2:
- Finish my cosplay to debut
- Do a final costest
- Take pictures in the cosplay and share them to my Onlyfans
- Lay out cosplays I need
- Pack my stuff (phone, wallet, pass, etc)
- Go walking to get back in shape to handle walking the con floor
- Promote my appearance on social media
- Make plans with fellow friends and cosplayers attending
- Plan for the cosplay showcase
