Contacts can be used to make your eyes look different colors for cosplays. So if you have a character you want to cosplay with red colored eyes you have ways to change your eye color. But how do you use contact lenses for cosplay? There’s a few things to definitely keep in mind.
Are cosplay contacts safe?
Typically, if worn right, yes! Cosplay contacts are safe. You just have to follow some guidelines to wear them properly so you don’t damage your eyes. You’ll want to make sure they’re fitted to your eyes’ prescription needs if you get prescription ones, that the seller is reputable, the contacts are FDA approved, and that you care for them properly. If you don’t follow these things you risk colored contacts damaging your eyes. You should also consider how long you wear them for.
How long can I wear cosplay contacts?
You can only wear cosplay contacts for so long before they could damage your eyes. Typically, you don’t want to wear them for more than a few hours. You should be fine to wear them for a con. Don’t wear them overnight though since they can cause serious damage. You should always take out your contacts before bed.
Where do Cosplayers get their contacts?
There’s tons of online places to order cosplay contacts from. Different cosplayers prefer different brands. It’s important to make sure you do your research to find one you like that’s both reputable and FDA approved. Here are some good ones other cosplayers and myself recommend:
- TTDEye – This is where I personally order my contacts from. They’ve been in the business for quite some time now and I am yet to be disappointed or harmed by an order. They also have some of the cutest packaging when you order and I am such a sucker for that.
- Coloured Contacts – Coloured contacts are FDA approved. You can definitely order from them and know their cosplay contacts are safe to wear.
- Pinky Paradise – This is another FDA approved seller for cosplay contacts. They have quite a large variety of colors to choose from and have been around for years, so you know you can trust them.
Do you put cosplay contacts in before or after makeup?
When putting in contacts make sure your hands are clean first and for most. Be very careful while putting them in and if you choose to use tools to help, use ones that are safe for your eyes. As for when to put your cosplay contacts on, be sure to put them on before you apply your makeup. You typically will want to put contacts in before you apply anything on your face.
