Wearing vibrant colored wigs or just one that difference from your natural hair color, can look out of place when paired with your eyebrows. The mismatch of colors can take away from some of the realism to your cosplay. With the power of makeup though, this can easily be changed. If you’re looking to learn how to color eyebrows for cosplay, look no further. There’s a few options you can try depending on what options you already have or what you’re feeling the most comfortable with.

Blocking Eye Brows

The first thing to keep in mind with any of these techniques is how to hide your eyebrows. This is of course optional and works better if you’re aiming to completely draw on a new shape or if your natural eyebrow color is too light or dark for the color you’re trying to achieve. This requires we try blocking eye brows. This usually involves applying a glue stick to your eyebrows. Then once the glue dries, apply a powder to them. You can then add concealer and foundation that matches with your skin tone to hide your eyebrows completely.

Eyebrow Pencil or Cream

There are eyebrow pencils and creams that can be used to draw on new eyebrows or color existing ones. They often come in natural colors but can also be found in unique colors too like purples and greens. You’re going to have an easier time finding the natural colors since most main stream makeup brands have them. The colorful ones might require a little more digging or may be a little more expensive than the drug store makeup.

Mascaras

This technique will require your existing eyebrows as a base. You can essentially tint your eyebrows to a darker color by using mascaras. There’s often options in black, dark browns and even unique colors like blue. However, you definitely won’t want to try blocking your eyebrows first since you’re essentially just coloring your eyebrows. This can be difficult to try when you want to go from a natural dark color to a lighter color.

Face Paint or Crayon

You probably already own face paints or crayons if you’re doing cosplays and work a lot with makeup and SFX. So if you’d like an option that involves repurposing cosplay makeup essentials you already have, this is a viable way to color your eyebrows. You can use these to similar how you would the eyebrow pencils or creams but might find it easier to get a variety of different colors. You can also use blocking with this technique.

Matte Eyeshadow

While I haven’t personally attempted this method, it is one other cosplayers do recommend online. You can cover your eyebrows with eyeshadows to color them. It’s important to use a matte option though so it looks realistic.
