What Parts of Cosplay Does TikTok Suppress

If you want to know what stuff TikTok doesn’t allow or hinders that impacts cosplayers , you aren’t going to get a clear answer. The following is a generalized list based off my own and other’s experience and TikTok’s community guidelines.

  • Props weapons – Showing weapons in a video can often have it labeled as “Sensitive Content.” You’ll want to make sure you’re careful not to include prop weapons in videos to label in the caption or on screen for the video that it’s a fake prop.
  • SFX makeup – SFX makeup for cosplays that incorporate graphic wounds or blood will get hindered if not removed.
  • Lewd or sexual implications – Sexually explicit content isn’t allowed on TikTok. However more implied or lewd content isn’t all treated the same. This type of content could be at risk for being removed or hindered often depending on viewer reports.
  • Cosplay lingerie, bikinis or revealing costumes – Similar to lewd or sexual implications, revealing or lewd cosplays can also be negatively impacted too.
  • Graphic skits – Violence and gore are often marked as “Sensitive Content” if not completely removed from the platform. Be careful when choosing skits as those with graphic content.
  • Use the terms like suicide, death, murder, etc. – The listed terms among others shouldn’t be used on TikTok. It’s why you see other creates use words like “unalive” as to not get their videos supressed.
