So I feel the title is a little misleading since it says beginning with fabric. I have worked with fabric before though. As a kid I learned to sew and did it for a while. However I am about to be 26 and I haven’t sewn since middle school now. That changed though and for the first time I worked with fabric recently for cosplays. This applies to the gloves for my Sam cosplay and the cat ears for my Princess Carolyn cosplay. The base of the ears is foam but I added pink fur fabric on the ears with hot glue to make them fluffy like a cat. I did have to utilize hair gel to style the fur accordingly.
So what was the point in this? Why was any of this even note worthy? Well one, I hope this connects with others who are beginning with fabric for cosplay. Also, it was just another cosplay first for me. It was exciting and I was beyond happy with the results of it. The ears look great and once I add them to a headband I am sure they will look great with the cosplay. I am even more excited to do more sewing and fabric related cosplays now. I have ideas and lists in mind and I am looking forward to even more trips to the Joann’s fabric store. What do you hope to see me sew?
